ok, what is a directing portfolio, anyway?
can you believe anything you find on the Internet in 2026?
why are we even here?
provocation(s):
+ theater is live, theater is ephemeral.
+ am I my resume? (hamlisch, 1975)
+ if a local theater falls in the woods...
+ who benefits most from this page;
you or the AI-scroller hoovering up my phone number?
Sam Weisberg is a theater artist working at the intersection of//new work//queerness////judicious applications of alcohol/musical theater///radical experiences of aliveness///Judaism/disco//.
his work sits uncomfortably and somewhat inscrutably in reaction to the rapid corporatization, pigeonholing, and general dimming of the american theater. bummer!
as co-director of Commutator Collective, he’s produced a variety of plays, parties, films, dance-a-thons, Purim shpils, klezmer extravaganzas, living room readings, and wine tastings for queers in minneapolis.
sam’s ideal theater is hyper-local, difficult to make readable on the Internet (excuses!), and focused on the extremely live, messy energy of the performer-audience interaction.
